Being caught up in an intense, on-again-off-again relationship with music for 10+ years isn't easy. It can rip you up inside, tear you in one direction, pull you in another, and/or bury you. But there's a time when one's involvement in music peaks and creating it consumes their every waking moment. For Stormy Strong, that time is now.
Stormy's foundation lies in melodic punk rock, where he cut his teeth in a well-known melodic punk band from Santa Cruz, CA called Reliance from 1996-1998. After countless releases and touring, the group went their separate ways and Stormy found himself neck-deep in the booming Silicon Valley computer industry. He didn't let that stop him from creating what he loved, dabbling in electronic music within his makeshift home studio, where his knack for clean melodies and catchy hooks were unavoidable.
But now is the time for his music to truly shine. With his new 4-song s/t studio release, Stormy sounds as he always should have: Pure, melodic and driving rock that bounces around your head for weeks. Unbeatable harmonies flood his musical landscape, dotted with chiming guitars, chunky chords and a knack for stark story telling that can catch you off guard. The son of a commercial fisherman, Stormy's maritime experiences have a heavy influence on the themes laced throughout his compositions. If you round out his natural inclinations with the influence of greats like Weezer, The Pixies and Jimmy Eat World, you'll have an idea of where to start.
With the right music on deck, Stormy is not only starting off on the right foot with his new endeavor, he's poised to stay on the right foot for quite some time. With a full backing band in tow, he is currently writing for a new full-length record and plans to start touring in support of it upon its release.
